Union Grove Farm and Vineyard: First U.S. Vineyard to be Certified by Regenified

Union Grove Farm [UGF] is proud to announce we are the first U.S. vineyard to receive the regenerative certification from Regenified for our farm in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Regenified verification standard is led by Gabe Brown and Dr. Allen Williams — recognized leaders in the regenerative industry creating the highest standard of quality farming and ranching practices.

‘People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.’

When we started on our journey to build a vineyard, we knew we had to do it the right way, focused on regenerative agriculture practices. As fifth-generation farmers, we were raised growing row crops through conventional farming. We learned how to farm focused on three key letters: N, P, K. We thought we could successfully and easily grow food using only Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potash.

Now we know, and science has proven, that farmers need to focus as much on the health of the soil as much as the health of the plant. By focusing our efforts on regenerative farming, we are delivering optimum soil health, removing chemical inputs, restoring biodiversity, reducing water use, while sequestering carbon and delivering more nutrient dense, healthier crops. Better for you and your family. Better for the environment.

No Greenwashing

Greenwashing is an attempt by farmers and corporations to say they are “using alternative farming methods” to grow their products, but not actually delivering the beneficial results. Although some have made bold statements about their support for regenerative ag practices, the transition is slow and has not yet been supported by sufficient actionable change. With only a small percentage of U.S farms certified regenerative, we know there is substantial room for improvement, and at UGF, we are committed to leading in this area.

The Center for Regenerative Agriculture at Union Grove Farm

Our Regenified certification is a first step. We are now poised to encourage and teach others how to transition from conventional farming to regenerative practices with our new Center for Regenerative Agriculture. This center is built on our mission to develop, educate, demonstrate and promote regenerative agriculture practices to restore soil resiliency, increase sustainability, and transition from conventional farming by providing a blueprint for today’s farmers and future farming generations.

Please join us at Union Grove Farm and Vineyard for our Regenerative Agriculture Tour. We'll take you on a journey through a working vineyard focused on growing our seedless Muscadine table grapes and learn how we are delivering nutritious, healthy food through regenerative farming.
